Fix Android problems without jumping straight to a reset
Good troubleshooting protects your data and changes one variable at a time. Begin with restarts, connections, storage and app-level settings. More disruptive steps—clearing app data, resetting network preferences or factory resetting—appear only after the safer checks.
For swelling, smoke, liquid damage, a chemical smell, dangerous heat or a physically damaged charging port, stop troubleshooting in software and arrange qualified service. Those are hardware safety issues.
