Diagnose screen flickering without guessing
Restart Windows and observe the lock screen, sign-in screen and desktop before opening applications. Check refresh rate, cable and display features
Open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display and choose a refresh rate explicitly supported by the panel at the selected resolution. A monitor advertised for a high rate may require a specific port, cable standard or reduced resolution. Test the native resolution and a standard refresh rate such as 60 Hz before re-enabling the maximum.
For an external monitor, reseat both cable ends, bypass a dock or adapter, try another supported cable and another port, then select the correct monitor input. Keep the power cable separate from damaged chargers or loose extension boards. A cable that works at 60 Hz may still fail at higher bandwidth.
